Jeanine Roberson is a Senior Associate at Teeple Hall, LLP and has worked at the Firm since 2012. Ms. Roberson has been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years, with an emphasis in estate planning, probate, trust administration, taxation, and general business transactions. While experienced on a broad range of legal matters, Ms. Roberson’s work at the Firm focuses on representing a diverse set of clients on a variety of complex issues involving estate planning, taxation, and a range of business transactions.
Ms. Roberson’s primary work involves ongoing estate planning advice and services to high-net-worth individuals and families, including design and implementation of sophisticated estate planning structures and drafting of revocable living trusts, domestic dynasty trusts, self-settled asset protection trusts, life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and offshore trusts. Ms. Roberson works with a diverse group of both domestic and international clients.

Ms. Roberson’s practice also extends to representing heirs, executors, and trustees in probate court matters. She has considerable experience working with families on trust administrations, including marshalling of assets, sub-trust funding, preparation of estate tax returns, trust decanting, and ongoing assistance and advice to trustees and beneficiaries.

In addition, Ms. Roberson has extensive experience advising the firm’s business clients on a wide range of matters including choice-of-entity and formation, employment issues, structured buyouts, redemptions, real estate transactions, and business acquisitions and sales. She has negotiated and drafted stock and asset purchase agreements, buy-sell agreements, loan agreements, real estate contracts and leases, intellectual property agreements, and general operational agreements on behalf of clients. Ms. Roberson has also worked with non-profit organizations on formation matters, including preparing documentation for IRS approval of tax-exempt status.
Ms. Roberson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from San Diego State University, and a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law. During law school, Ms. Roberson was a member of the San Diego Law Review and the Order of the Coif honor society. She earned a Master of Law in Taxation, cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2000. Her professional memberships include the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.

Provided ongoing estate planning services to high-net-worth family commencing with initial revocable trust drafting stage through trust administration after passing of first spouse and continuing with design and implementation of long-term dynasty trust strategy intended to benefit multiple generations. Ms. Roberson also routinely drafted both foreign and domestic multi-generational trusts, including those involving foreign clients owning substantial U.S. assets or having U.S. beneficiaries.

Probated multi-million-dollar estate involving businesses and assets located in multiple countries and heirs residing internationally. Ms. Roberson acted as lead trust administration attorney for long-term trust holding mixed real estate and business assets exceeding $40 million, with gifts in trust to more than 20 named beneficiaries.

Lead drafting attorney on the sale of a technology company worth in excess of $100 million. Ms. Roberson worked directly with client senior management and board members throughout all phases of the transaction and coordinated corporate due diligence and closing matters.

Advised multi-tiered restaurant business on structuring buy-out of founding members and structure of the business going forward. Ms. Roberson also provides ongoing counsel to companies on routine and long-range business matters, entity maintenance, tax, and employment issues.

Advised local real estate company on contract and leasing matters, including drafting and negotiation of lease agreement for large commercial office space. Ms. Roberson also assisted commercial and residential real estate investors with acquisitions and sales, complex title issues, and loan financing transactions.
