In his role as Of Counsel at Teeple Hall, LLP, B. Roland Freasier, Jr. advises on complex and nuanced tax matters on a wide array of issues involving the Tax, Private Client, and International Groups.

 

Prior to his time at the Firm, Mr. Freasier worked for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for ten years where he served in a variety of roles and positions including:

​

  • IRS Agent,

  • Criminal Investigator,

  • Appellate and District Counsel,

  • Instructor - served as Instructor for IRS agents in individual, corporate, appellate and criminal law matters, and

  • Co-Author – co-authorized training textbooks and materials on individual and corporate tax law utilized in training IRS personnel.

After leaving the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Freasier went into the private practice of tax law. During this period, he represented corporations in civil tax cases and defended criminal tax cases. During his period of private practice, Mr. Freasier served as special consultant to the Internal Revenue Service for ten years, where he was engaged in rewriting, evaluating and expanding the annual Enrollment Examination given to people who wish to practice before the Internal Revenue Service in representing taxpayers.

During the Reagan Presidency, Mr. Freasier also served on a prestigious Congressional Advisory Board as a special Tax Advisor for the National Tax Policy. Mr. Freasier is a permanent member of the President’s Advisory Board of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

​

While experienced in a broad range of legal matters, Mr. Freasier’s work at the Firm focuses on representing a variety of clients on complex issues in federal income tax planning, estate and gift tax planning, IRS audit and appeals representation, U.S tax court representation, IRS offshore disclosure, global transfer pricing agreements and related IRS audits, and international tax planning.

 

Mr. Freasier holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond where he graduated summa cum laude, a master’s degree Virginia Commonwealth University where he also graduated summa cum laude, a J.D. from the College of William and Mary with high honors, and Master of Law and Taxation from the College of William and Mary where he also graduated with high honors.

  • Mr. Freasier has also lectured extensively at law schools. Mr. Freasier served on the Taxation Editorial Board of Prentice Hall Publishing Company for nine years.
